The frames shot leading up to this one…..not so good. The frame shot immediately following this one……a complete disaster. This particular frame wasn’t what I was envisioning when I began this sequence, and while it’s evident that there are many flawed aspects of it, it’s actually better than those I imagined I’d create. Better to me anyway, because it speaks honestly from a tender heart.
When photographing babies and children, the only thing you can count on is that nothing lasts. You can’t force something you’d like to have happen by your shear might, and you can’t hold on to something you’d like to preserve with your tight grip. These pint-sized sages insist that you remain fluid and open and accepting of what is. “Pay attention, lighten up, and don’t worry so much about reaching some predetermined outcome", is what they wisely advise without words or preaching.
Follow their lead and discover hidden joy in the moment, and maybe even a glimpse of your own tender heart.
