To photograph a baby or child is to have your entire being filled to the brim with appreciation for the smallest of achievements.

He stayed seated in the chair.
He looked thoughtfully in my direction.
The air was neither too warm or too cool, the breeze gentle and soothing,
and the ever chattering world momentarily hushed.


I can make a photograph of this feeling of gratitude so it can be recalled again, and for today, that’s enough.
