Sometimes it seems the simplest things are the hardest to come by. Moments of sincerity can feel elusive in a world overridden with judgment, bursting with labels, and where everything is up for sale. Proclamations are continually made as to what is good and what is bad, what is desirable and what is unwanted, and we spend much of our energy, if not most of it, either desperately grasping or vigilantly pushing away.
As a photographer I think I’m mostly seeking some kind of neutral territory, a place of innocence momentarily free of the madness raging both outside and within. I will shoot and shoot and shoot until I’m finally able to break through the barriers that delude me into believing I’m separate and alone. Within these shades of gray I’m briefly uninfluenced and unaffected, finding exquisite perfection in everything and all things, just as they are.
