So it might just be fact, the people of Asheville *are* happier than the general population. Ü I’ve found this to be my experience most everywhere I‘ve traveled in the area, and have certainly felt it within myself each visit. It would be easy to assume that this is the result of being surrounded by such magnificent natural beauty, but I believe there’s more to it than that.
The city’s moto is “Altitude Affects Attitude”, and in this perfect slogan lies the secret…..not in the literal sense but a more profound way. What might be possible if instead of looking outward for our happiness we focused on our altitude, connecting with something higher, something deeper? What if we ourselves chose to live our lives “vertical”, not comparing nor trying to keep up with others, but continually digging deep while at the same time looking to the heavens and reaching upwards towards a truer version of ourselves? Imagine the peace available if we were to train our vision to see primarily the vertical view.
Altitude affects attitude.
