We photograph best what we want to see and believe about life. Or maybe what we’re seeking most to understand. Recurring themes reveal themselves through our images, weaving a largely autobiographical tapestry of not just who we are, but who we long to be. I can look at any single photograph I’ve made and know without a doubt whether in that moment I was moving in the direction of my own personal truth or away from it……whether I was brave or cowardly, accepting or judgmental.
I suppose this might be the reason that at times it’s difficult to view my own work. Some days I’m just not up for this kind of self-discovery. Ü
