It was the end of the session on a recent oppressively muggy morning, and I was sitting on the ground completely dripping with sweat, my hands so moist and slippery I could barely hold on to my camera. I wasn’t in this particular spot on the grass optimally maneuvering myself to get the shot, I was simply “dog tired” and taking a break. What is it they say about working with children and animals? Oh yeah, don’t do it. Puppies and children together goes double I’m pretty sure.
I spent the majority of the session rapidly chasing two young children and the puppy, all the while carefully dodging dog poop, when I rather uncharacteristically dropped down and kind of gave up. Maybe it was the off the charts humidity. Perhaps it was the strong feeling that there was too much “trying” going on. Or maybe I’m just getting old. Whatever the reasoning, I sat down and told myself the next shot would have to come to me.
And so it did.
