So flowers should be in color, right?
Often parents will coax their little ones to stop and smell any flowers that might be in the location we’re photographing. They do this for several reasons, one being that to combine the exquisite beauty of the natural world with that of their child is pretty much irresistible, but also because we’re always looking for an angle that might slow down the constant motion of the child for even a few seconds.
Children will typically oblige this request, but often I find these images lacking in authenticity. So much better it is when they’re left to their own devises, and the flower itself becomes the catalyst that draws them in close.
This image was shot right out the front door of this little girl’s home where she’s likely experienced the same flower multiple times prior, and yet she gravitated naturally toward it once again, breathing it in so completely it was as if it was the first time she’d ever known such sweetness. Fortunate was I to be there with camera breathing it in as well.
