While I’ll readily admit that family shoots in general aren’t my favorite to do, I really enjoy the tender and sweet aspect of photographing new parents with their firstborn child. There is this combination of awkwardness and awe that I find absolutely captivating. A baby enters a couple’s world and everything they thought they knew prior is out the window and replaced with an all-encompassing appreciation for the miracle of life. The tiniest things a baby does capture the parents attention fully and with reverence. This is the gift of new life. A baby teaches his parents to notice.

It’s a wonderful thing to observe with camera.
